Me Oh My

I just can't keep up with posting on a blog!  I have the best intentions but time gets away from me.

I finished a few things.  Haven't started much.  On my list is a pair of longies in my "winter" colorway for a custom, and a Chloe Grace in Shy Violet's "Butterfly" colorway with purple trim also for a custom.  I'd like to knit my daughter a So Sassy sweater.  I adore that pattern.

Here are some finished pics:

An Ohio State University hat for my youngest son

A Butterflly Dress for my cousin's daughter

And some action shots of the set I knit earlier this month.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I know it's coming but I feel like it's still sneaking up on me.  We spend the Thanksgiving Holiday with my side of the family.  There are quite a few of us that get together.  We have two turkeys and tons of potatoes and sides.  I'm so excited to see my family.

I've been doing a little Christmas shopping.  Can't seem to find the LeapFrog LeapPad instock anywhere and I'm getting nervous.  I've been trying for days.  Hoping that the stores are saving their supplies for Black Friday and will be fully stocked.

Time to plant the bulbs

It's getting so cooooold outside!  I purchased some tulip bulbs to plant and now I just have to figure out where I want to plant them!  I love the first signs of spring :)

Kids are still keeping me pretty busy.  I have alot of new projects that I need to get moving on.  I also have to plan a football party for this Saturday.  Twenty plus 10-11 year olds over at the house.  Am I nuts???  I must be.

Lots of Halloween activities coming up.  What are your kids dressing up as for trick or treating?  I have no idea what my children want to be.  There is a Halloween dance, an open ice skate and a Goblin Gallop coming up.  Love this time of year!

Next post will include some finished pictures of baysides and tiptoe hats.

Get out your Leaf Blowers

Autumn is here to stay!  My driveway is covered in leaves and my flowers need cut back.  The weather is cooler and the nights are longer.

My neice is out of the hospital and recovering at home.  It looks as though she will make a full recovery!  Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.  It's her third birthday today!

My boys are keeping me so busy these days!  This includes my DH.  They are playing football and soccer and Daddy is coach for two of the three of them. Doesn't leave much time for knitting.  I don't have any WIP pictures to take as of now.  I've pretty much stalled out and need to get my rear in gear.

I'll leave this post with a picture of my youngest son.  He's 5 and his name is Kyler.  This is the pumpkin that he picked on his field trip hayride.  He was so proud of it!  My Mr. Handsome :)

Be Thankful...

My 2 year old neice is in the ICU. She was injured when a TV fell on her. How many items do you have that are not anchored to the wall that could be a hazard to your little one? Give your little one/ones an extra kiss tonight and be thankful that they are happy and healthy!

I finished a pair of longies
003

And I have a WIP picture of a cabled winter romper that I'm working on for a custom

Another WIP

This is going to be for a future stocking.  It's Shy Violet's "Airplane" colorway with some matching blue Cestari Superfine.  I'm knitting it into some Bayside Britches and have some super cute matching custom buttons from Corina of Ayarina's Designs.

It's a pot roast day!

With this cooler fall weather coming, I decided to throw a pot roast in the crock pot and take it easy today.  I had to rip 8 inches back on the custom blue/white romper that I was knitting.  I forgot that the customer had requested cables down the sides.  Sucks to be me!  It will look so darling when it's done.

I have finished the pair of longies that I was knitting and also knit up a cute little beanie hat for my neice.  She's only about a month old.  Love knitting the itty bitty things.  Pics to come soon.  It's rainy and ugly outside so the camera will not be coming out today.

Butterfly Stitch in the round TUTORIAL

I've seen a few tutorials on how to knit the butterfly stitch flat but none on how to knit it ITR.  This was frustrating to me when I would need it and couldn't figure out how to get those loose strands knit instead of purled.  Well, when I finally did figure it out, I had to take pictures and share!

I hope this helps someone in the knitting world.  Enjoy!

Butterfly Stitch "in the round" Tutorial.  Here is the pattern portion of it

For rounds 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9
*Starting at marker, bring yarn to front of work.  With working yarn in front, slip 5 stitches purlwise.  Bring yarn to back of work.  Knit 5 stitches.  Repeat from * to end
For rounds 2, 4, 6, and 8  Knit
Round 10
Knit 2, *knit the loose strands and the next stitch together, knit 7.  Repeat from * to last 7 stitches, k7.

For rounds 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19
*Knit 5, bring yarn to front of work.  With working yarn in front, slip 5 stitches purlwise.  Bring yarn to back of work.   Repeat from * to end
For rounds 12, 14, 16, and 18  Knit
Round 20
Knit 7, knit the loose strands and the next stitch together, *k9, knit the loose strands and the next stitch together.  Repeat from * to last 2 stitches, k2

And the picture tutorial:

Make sure you have enough stitches on your needles to be divisible by 10.  PM and join your knitting.

002

1.  After you place your marker, bring your working yarn forward as if you were going to purl-but don't purl.

003

2.  Slip the next 5 stitches "purlwise" and "wrap" your yarn around those stitches by bringing your yarn to the back of your work as if you were going to knit.

004

3.  Knit the next 5 stitches.  In the picture, I've shown only the next stitch knit, but knit 5 :)

006

4.  You will be knitting every other round

005

5.  This is what it will look like before you begin to butterfly your loose strands.

007

6.  Take your right needle and insert it under the loose strands as if to knit

008

7.  And insert the right needle into the next stitch to knit it and the strands together
(I started to get lazy....I stopped numbering my pictures!)

009

8.  Wrap the stitch to knit it

010

9.  (it gets tricky here)  Bring your needle with the new stitch on it (the right needle) back down through the loose strands and slip the stitch on the left needle off.  If you don't slip that stitch off the left needle, you'll be creating an extra stitch.

011

10.  When you bring your right needle back up, it'll have that beautiful little stitch on it!

See how pretty it is?
